Wildlife welfare and reproductive toxicology. Examines how environmental stressors affect the physiological and behavioural health of wild ruminants, using the roe deer as a primary model. Studies the effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals on various species.
Ümmü Gülsüm is a veterinarian from Türkiye, currently pursuing a PhD in Veterinary Sciences at the University of Agriculture in Krakow, with research centred at the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Her doctoral work is part of the Opus Lap project (2021/43/I/NZ9/01077).
Molecular ecology, biodiversity genomics, and computational ecology. Focuses on data-driven approaches to ecosystem and biodiversity analysis, with an interest in interdisciplinary research linking molecular data with ecological processes and environmental change.
Ahmed is a Molecular Biotechnology student from Egypt, currently on an Erasmus+ exchange semester in Slovenia. He is also interested in the connection between science and environmental policy.
Focus on multidisciplinary fields, utilizing techniques such as cell culture, cytotoxicity assays, gene expression analysis, molecular cloning, DNA interaction analyses, and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).
Research Assistant Büşra ÖZÇAY EKŞİ is currently working as a research assistant in the Department of Biology, Division of Molecular Biology, Faculty of Science, Selçuk University. She completed her undergraduate education in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University and her master’s degree in the Department of Biology at Selçuk University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in the Department of Biology at Selçuk University.As part of an Erasmus traineeship, she received training at the Czech Academy of Sciences on Fluorescence in situ Hybridization (FISH) and Comparative Genomic Hybridization (CGH). In addition, she is undertaking a two-month Erasmus traineeship in the laboratory of Elena BUZAN to gain knowledge and practical experience in phylogenetic and phylogenomic analyses and to integrate the knowledge and skills acquired in this field into her future academic studies.
